Visiting the desert is surprisingly enjoyable due to gorgeous views and interesting flora and fauna. Visiting the desert for the first time can be an especially exciting adventure; it’s something you should do at least once during your lifetime, just to experience the awe and wonder of the desert.

Be aware of your passport’s expiration date. Some countries have certain rules about the expiration. If your passport expires within a specified time frame, you may not be able to enter the country. Normally, this range is between three and six months, but it can even be eight months to a year.

If you enjoy visiting the gorgeous National Parks and plan to do so often, consider investing in an affordable National Park Pass. Each pass costs only 50 dollars and is valid for an entire year at any national park.

Stay up as late as possible, or at least until around 8 o’clock in the evening, to help adapt to the time change. Resist the urge to fall asleep too early because this will only prolong the disorientation of jet lag. You can get rid of your jet lag quicker by adjusting as soon as possible to the current time zone.

Weather can be a huge factor in your travel plans. Keep a close eye on the forecast and check it regularly until the moment you actually depart. Having a weather-sensitive vacation like a beach or ski trip ruined because of a random weather event would be a miserable experience.

During an extra-long flight or road trip, get up and stretch your legs at least once per hour. Sitting for prolonged periods of time can cause health problems.

When you are ready to travel, you need to be sure to have copies made of each of your vital papers. Keep copies of your passport, insurance papers, and other documents in a separate place than the ones you travel with. You might also entrust a relative with copies, which you can collect if your originals are stolen or lost.

Take extras of anything you absolutely need on your trip, like eyeglasses or contacts. You don’t want to break your glasses and not be able to replace them because you are away from home. You may not want to keep them in your carry on bag, in case something happens to that bag while traveling.
