Planning ahead is the number one rule of flying. Just reaching the airport can be difficult to do quickly, especially if you are traveling through a major city during rush hour. Do all of your packing the day before. Complete and execute all of your plans well in advance of your flight. You do not want to miss your flight.

Keep a photo of your children on you at all times, in case they become lost. Losing your child can be a scary prospect. Children can sometimes become lost when traveling due to the crowds or the unfamiliar location. Easy access to a photograph of the child can facilitate any necessary search efforts in they get lost.

Be aware of food allergies when you visit a foreign country or new place. You need to know the language’s food related words, particularly if you have bad reactions to foods. You can tell the workers of your condition and inform the doctors if something does happen.

Be wary of people who tell you that they are police offers or government officials when you are traveling in a strange city. Never hand over your original passport, as you might not get it back. If someone insists you must visit their office, then walk there with them. Do not get into a vehicle with someone that you do not know.

Unfortunately, you cannot depend on an airline to see to your needs, even if your traveling involves a lengthy flight. Make sure you bring along a blanket, pillow and if you will use them, headphones. You should also plan to bring a few airline approved snacks along in case the airline meals are a flop.

Get in a workout before boarding your flight. Longer flights can be hard on your body. Having to remain seated in one position that long can give you cramps in your back and legs. Exercise or, at the least, a session of stretching prior to a flight can minimize your cramps and eliminate sore muscles.

Give your bellhop and maid a nice tip. The bell boy should get a bare minimum of $1/bag, and housekeeping should get at least a couple dollars a day. You will find that this simple act will make your stay overall that much better, and the people who work there will go out of their way to please you.
